Photography

Anyone can take a camera and take a picture. Sometimes these pictures turn out nice. . . but can you take a good picture and know what makes it a good picture? Do you know how to adjust your camera to take a better picture? You are going to learn various photography techniques and now to use the different settings on a point and shoot camera and a DSLR camera.

Your Task
You are going to take LOTS of pictures. Edit some of the images. Create a portfolio and then load your best images onto Flickr.com.

To Start
Composition and Technique
Learn what the following mean and take pictures (2 or more) that demonstrate them:
*keep track of what these mean somewhere - Word, Stickie, Keynote, etc.*
Rule of Thirds
Perspective
Close-Ups
Symmetry and Patterns
Framing
*1 other composition technique of your choice

Once you have taken your images and loaded them onto the computer it is now time to move to the next part:

Enhancing Images
Once you load your images into iPhoto you are able to edit them there.
Watch video on the Apple Support Site.
Go to the second page of videos and watch the following:

Using a DSLR
Learn what the following mean/do. When you find out call Mr. Bonnici over and he will show you how to set them on the Canon and Nikon.

ISO
Aperture
Shutter Speed

Funky Images

You are going to take two different types of images using the DSLR images.  Mr. Bonnici will show you how to take these when you get to this point.

Your Portfolio of Images
Once you have taken all your images you need to make sure you have 2 images for each of the rules of composition.  You also need to be ready to tell how they meet these rules, why you like them, and how you would change the image next time.

When Done

When you are done taking as many images as you can, you will then load up images on Flick.com and set your own Creative Commons Agreement.
*This will take a class to do*

Reflection
Once you are done you will reflect on your learning by leaving a comment on this blog.
**More information to come.**

  1. If you want to take a photo of something take picture from different angles so you can have the best photo possible. Take pictures of things that are unusual because sometimes they make great pictures.

  2. I think that taking photos from different point of views are really interesting and cool to look at because you can angle it to a certain view while capturing a different scene, this is called perspective. Basically angle your camera towards a certain object or thing, while capturing a different point of view ahead of it.

  3. You should take a lot of pictures in case something happens to your other pictures. Also use different effects with the camera, don't just use the same thing. Last, you should never ever fool around when taking pictures. It could waste a lot of your time.
